'Haze' by Helen Caddick was inspired by the JMW Turner: Adventures in Colour exhibition which was shown at Turner Contemporary, Margate 8th October 2016 - 8th January 2017.

'Reacting to the sumptuous colours and use of light in Turner's paintings, I have selected five paintings from the exhibition and threaded together a fictional narrative, that of a sailing boat taking a journey around the east coast - the coast which Turner felt had 'the loveliest skies in Europe'.
I have also aimed, within 'Haze', to show how quickly the Sea can change from peace to threat in seconds and man's endeavour to explore and conquer in the face of adversity. The trumpet represents the man in the boat as the sea carries the boat and propels it through the storm.
We begin the journey with the hushed 1st movement, 'Whispering Silence' which is inspired by Turner's beautiful painting 'Blue Moonlight over Yellow Sands'' - Helen Caddick 2016.
